The Show
Georgy Girl – The Seekers Musical is a vibrant celebration of one of Australia’s most beloved musical groups. Bursting with iconic hits and nostalgia, this production tells the remarkable true story of The Seekers – Judith Durham, Athol Guy, Keith Potger, and Bruce Woodley – four young Melbourne musicians who received international fame. From humble beginnings to international fame, their journey is brought to life with warmth, humour, and heart.
Featuring many of their classics, the musical weaves these songs into an uplifting narrative of friendship, ambition, and the power of music to unite and inspire. At its core, Georgy Girl is both a tribute and a backstage pass, offering audiences a glimpse into the lives behind the harmonies, as well as the cultural revolution of the era.
For performers, this show offers a unique blend of rich character work, tight vocal harmony, and energetic ensemble storytelling. Whether you’re drawn to heartfelt drama, comedic flair, or the joy of singing some of the most cherished songs in Australian music history, Georgy Girl provides a rewarding and nostalgic creative experience.
We look forward to seeing you at auditions and welcoming you as part of this celebration of Australian music, history, and spirit.

Rehearsals and Commitment
It is the expectation of both the production team and the BMMS committee that everyone involved in this production will be available from the date of their casting through until Monday 8 June 2026.
To ensure that Georgy Girl is a production of the highest quality, and in fairness to all involved it is essential that all cast members are available for all scheduled rehearsals.
We understand that sometimes life gets in the way, so to ensure we can allow for those times where things just happen, all known absences must be disclosed and recorded on your audition form at the time of your audition. It is vital that important rehearsal time is not wasted by an unplanned absence of required cast members.
Absence from rehearsals without notice or a justifiable reason may result in cast members forfeiting their place in the show.
A prerequisite for all cast members is that they need to sign a cast contract with the production team and committee of Blue Mountains Musical Society confirming your agreement with the conditions of being cast in this production.

Singing
Everyone auditioning for the Georgy Girl cast must take part in the Singing audition.
- Please prepare a 32 bar cut of a song in the style of the show. Georgy Girl tells the story of The Seekers – a group blending 60s popular music and traditional folk sounds. Your song choice should be within this realm!
- A successful audition should prioritise storytelling and communication through song.
- Bring your own piano sheet music in your preferred key in either a folder or neatly taped for the accompanist.
- No backing tracks will be accepted.
- The Seekers are an Australian ensemble, and as such, accents should be neutral/refined Australian as exhibited in recordings from the time period.
Acting
This will take place during your singing audition time slot.
- Auditionees will be asked to perform a monologue. You do not need to have it memorised, but it will be helpful to be familiar. LINK

Saturday 24 January 2026, 1:30pm
In the interest of keeping the audition process as open and transparent as possible, we are reserving time for callbacks. At this stage, it’s too early to determine which roles may require callbacks and what we will be calling back for.
Roles
Cast size: 25-35 people.
Judith Durham
Voice / Vocal Type: Known for her voice – ‘pure’ soprano – range G3 – A5
Character: Judy starts as a shy young woman with a “girl-next-door,” humble charm. Over the course of the show she blossoms gaining confidence, maturity, and grappling with fame, success and personal identity. Her story includes vulnerability, resilience, inner strength and emotional growth.
Stage Age: 20s to 30s
Athol Guy
Voice / Vocal Type: Baritone – lower harmonies in the band – range F2 – D4
Character: Athol is portrayed as the pragmatic backbone level-headed, ambitious, socially confident and business-minded. He helps the group navigate the music industry, and acts as a stabilising force. He has a calm presence capable of both light-hearted camaraderie and serious decision-making.
Stage Age: 20s to 30s
Keith Potger
Voice / Vocal Type: Tenor – range G2 – G4
Character: Cool (or so he thinks), easy-going and somewhat of a charmer, often portrayed as the “lady-loving” or flirtatious member – but he does this because he thinks this what a musician is supposed to be. He is yet to find himself at the beginning living a life in another person’s shoes.
Stage Age: 20s to 30s
Bruce Woodley
Voice / Vocal Type: Baritone – range A2 – E4
Character: The more thoughtful and artistically driven member of the group. He is often portrayed as songwriting-inclined, earnest, slightly more introspective than his bandmates. Bruce emerges as a kind of “leader” alongside Athol in shaping the band’s sound and direction.
Stage Age: 20s to 30s
Ron Edgeworth
Voice / Vocal Type: Baritenor – range G2 – F4
Character: Serves as narrator, framing the story (often looking back), bringing warmth, humour, and perspective. Later in the story he becomes Judy’s husband, offering emotional weight to the post-band years. He is English.
Stage Age: 30s to 40s
John Ashby
Voice / Vocal Type: Tenor – range – B2 – B4
Character: John is The Seekers’ hardworking tour manager, energetic, organised, and endlessly resourceful. He has a youthful confidence, a commanding speaking voice, and a warm presence that makes him instantly likeable. He is English.
Stage Age: 20s to 30s
Eddie Jarrett
Voice / Vocal Type: Baritenor – Range G2 – E4
Character: Eddie Jarrett is The Seekers’ sophisticated, smooth, and assured manager. Polished and experienced, he represents the business side of the music industry. Therefore, he represents the harshness of the industry. He is English.
Stage Age: 30s to 50s
Beverly Durham
Voice / Vocal Type: Mezzo Soprano – range – A3 – F5
Character: Beverley is Judith Durham’s supportive, grounded, and genuine sister. She reflects the warmth and honesty of the Durham family and provides an emotional anchor in Judy’s early life. She is relatable, down-to-earth, and carries an ease of humour and kindness that contrasts the whirlwind of the band’s success.
Stage Age: Mid to late 20s
