Music has always been a big part of Mirabai’s life. She has been involved in twelve musicals through high school and three community theatre companies since 2014. BMMS has been extremely important to her over the past few years and she is so thankful that she was able to take part in BMMS Online, and now BMMS Online 2.0. Mirabai is excited and honoured to share the Facebook Live ‘stage’ with such talented performers.
Micah is a long-time performer with BMMS and got his start when he was 12, appearing as the title character in ‘Oliver!’ in 2010. Since then he has performed in seven BMMS productions in a variety of different roles, including Tony in ‘West Side Story’ in 2016 and Gallileo Figaro in ‘We Will Rock You’ in 2018.
From a young age Laura has had a love and passion for performance and entertainment. She performed as Duffy in Packemin’s production of ‘Annie’ and was part of the ensemble for Packemin’s ‘Beauty and the Beast’. Laura was cast in the role of young Jenny in the Channel 7 Telemovie ‘Peter Allen: Not the Boy Next Door’, appeared as Jess in the film ‘UnIndian’, and also played Blue in ATYP’s production ‘The Trolleys’. Laura performed as Rumpleteazer in Packemin’s production of ‘Cats’, played Elf in Packemin’s production of ‘Shrek’ and appeared as Lily St. Regis in Spot On’s ‘Annie JR’. Laura appeared as Ariel in Hills Musical Theatre Company’s ‘The Little Mermaid’ and was a part of the ensemble in Packemin’s production of ‘Les Miserables’.
Alex has been performing with BMMS for nine years, assuming you can count 2020. During this time, he has played such roles as Bernardo in ‘West Side Story’ and Pharaoh in ‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat’. When he’s not on stage Alex works as a cabinetmaker and helps out with set construction.
Hayley’s whole family has always been involved with musicals. Getting her start with Campbelltown Theatre Company, Hayley has been involved and featured in many shows since her early teens. In the past few years, Hayley has finally found some friends that will stick around within the Blue Mountains Musical Society. She is very excited to be a part of BMMS Online 2.0 and hopes you enjoy the show.
Lily has always loved musical theatre. She has always been part of school vocal groups and has loved doing school musicals. ‘Mamma Mia’ was to have been her first musical with BMMS. She is thrilled to have this opportunity to perform in BMMS Online 2.0.
Mikaela has been performing with BMMS since 2016 when she played Anybodys in ‘West Side Story’. She was most recently cast as Sophie in their production of ‘Mamma Mia’. Mikaela has also performed with Willoughby Theatre Company, as Chava, in their 2019 production of ‘Fiddler on the Roof’.
Jacqui began her musical theatre experience with BMMS, having performed in ‘Cats’ (Jemima), ‘The Who’s Tommy’ (Sally Simpson), ‘The Phantom of the Opera’ (Confidante), ‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat’ (Narrator) and ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’ (Featured Ensemble). She graduated from the Talent Development Project and performed as a Featured Artist in the ‘Schools Spectacular’ in 2017. Last year she completed a Diploma of Musical Theatre at Brent Street, and is currently studying a Bachelor of Musical Theatre at Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University in Brisbane. Jacqui is thrilled to be back performing with the community to whom she owes so much.
Peter has returned to performing in musical theatre over the last four years, including playing the role of Buddy in the BMMS 2018 production of ‘We Will Rock You’. With a background in rock bands Peter has also performed in shows such as ‘Joseph and The Technicolor Dreamcoat’, ‘A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum’, ‘Oliver!’ and most recently he performed with Sam Taylor in Camden Musical Society’s ‘A Night On Broadway’. In a year like 2020 has been, Peter is absolutely thrilled to be able to be back performing with the BMMS crew.
Lachlan has performed in several BMMS shows both on and off stage. He has performed in roles such as Caiaphas in ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’, Diesel in ‘West Side Story’ and many others. Lachlan has not performed in the last few shows but has always helped with set and tech. He looks forward to performing with so many talented people.
Sam entered the world of musical theatre in 2015. He has had the honour of training at the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) to hone his performance skills and learn from a host of incredible industry professionals. Sydney Youth Musical Theatre (SYMT) company has provided Sam with many exciting roles; most recently in ‘Tarzan’ (Tarzan). Sam has been privileged to work with Packemin Productions on ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’ (Apostle – James the Less) as well as ‘Les Miserables’ (Feuilly and Marius Understudy). Sam made his TV debut featuring in two commercials as well as a short film, ‘The Other Loss’ (AFTT).
Jorja was enticed into the world of musical theatre from a young age after seeing the musical phenomenon ‘Wicked’. She has been part of the Winmalee High School musical productions ‘The Addams Family’ in 2017 and ‘Little Shop of Horrors’ in 2019. She has also been a member of the ‘Pulse’ Vocal Ensemble for the past three years. ‘Mamma Mia’ was to have been her first BMMS production. Jorja loves working with the BMMS team and hopes you enjoy BMMS Online 2.0.
Kirralee Hillier is a recent graduate of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music where she completed her Bachelor of Music Performance (Classical Voice). Her passion for performing has led her to perform with internationally acclaimed artists such as Hans Zimmer and Patti Lupone. Other credits include performing as Elle Woods in ‘Legally Blonde’, Cunegonde in Bernstein’s ‘Candide’, Carrie in ‘Carrie: the Musical’, Griddlebone in ‘Cats’ and Clara in ‘The Hatpin’. Kirralee has also had the honour of playing the roles of Belinda in Purcell’s ‘Dido and Aeneas’, Jessie in Kurt Weil’s Mahagonny-Songspiel’ and Pauline Hansen in the award-winning Australian musical ‘The Colour Orange’. Kirralee is excited to be performing in BMMS Online 2.0.
Belle is in Year 10 at Winmalee High School where she takes classes in music, dance and drama. Her first musical theatre performance was with BMMS at age nine. Since then she has appeared in multiple productions with Three Sisters Youth Theatre, Riverside Theatres and WHS, along with performances at ‘Schools Spectacular’, ‘Pulse’ and ‘Lights Up Drama Festival’. In her spare time she writes music, sings, plays piano, guitar and ukulele and can be found busking on the streets of Springwood.
Liz trained at Three Stage Pty Ltd under the direction of Richard Brooks and Elizabeth Ward, graduating with a Diploma in the three-year Professional Acting course. She currently studies singing under the guidance of Naomi Livingston. Credits with BMMS include Mama Rose in ‘Gypsy’, Lizzie Lock in ‘Morgan’s Run: The Musical’ world premiere, Nancy in ‘Oliver!’, Priest/Featured Ensemble in ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’, Poor Ensemble in ‘Urinetown’, ‘The Little Mermaid’, and ‘The Music Man’. Other credits include Nancy in ‘Barmaids’, Mrs Linde in ‘A Doll’s House’; Rossignol in ‘Marat/Sade’, and Alison Porter in ‘Look Back in Anger’, as well as many other plays, pantomimes, kids’ shows, self-devised theatre and musicals.
James has been performing with BMMS for about ten years. Since then he has played the roles of George in ‘The Wedding Singer’, Tiny Tom in ‘Urinetown’ and Yonkers in ‘Gypsy’, and has been an ensemble member in several other shows. After being the co-compere of the original BMMS Online, James is pleased to be back on the ‘stage’ for BMMS Online 2.0.
Clare is an accomplished cabaret performer with a number of shows under her belt, including a sell-out night at ‘Claire’s Kitchen’ earlier this year. Clare has performed at the State Theatre, sung the National Anthem for a number of concerts at Qudos Bank Arena, and performed for prime ministers, premiers and diplomats alike. A graduate of AIM, whilst there she played Baker’s Wife in ‘Into the Woods’, Henry in ‘Henry V’, and various other roles. For BMMS she has played many memorable characters from Mrs Lovett to King Herod. Clare is extremely thrilled to be a part of BMMS Online 2.0.
Sarah is thrilled to be returning for BMMS’ second online concert. After taking a small break from her BMMS life she was looking forward to making her comeback to the stage as an ensemble member in ‘Mamma Mia’, but 2020 had other plans. Sarah has been involved in 14 BMMS productions and most recently played Scaramouche in ‘We Will Rock You’. She is looking forward to sharing one of her favourite songs from the show with you.
Erin loves all aspects of performing, and BMMS shows have assisted her in honing her craft. Inspired by so many incredible people along the way Erin has performed in ‘Oliver!’, ‘Cats’, ‘Pirates of Penzance’, ‘The Phantom of the Opera’, ‘West Side Story’, ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’, ‘The Little Mermaid’ and ‘We Will Rock You’. Erin was looking forward to ‘Mamma Mia’ but thinks these online concerts are the next best thing! She hopes everyone enjoys the show!
Kayley has been performing with Blue Mountains Musical Society since her first show ‘Oliver!’ in 2010. Since then Kayley has performed in ‘Cats’, ‘Pirates of Penzance’, ‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat’ and ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’. She had also been cast in ‘Mamma Mia’ with her sister and mum and was disappointed that it had to be cancelled due to COVID-19. Kayley is excited to be performing with so many talented people in BMMS Online 2.0.
Michelle says joining BMMS in 2010 to play the rose seller in ‘Oliver!’ will go down as one of the best decisions she ever made! Since then she has performed in lots of BMMS shows including ‘Morgans Run: The Musical’, ‘Beauty and the Beast’, ‘Grease’, ‘Cats’, ‘The Phantom of the Opera’, ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’ and ‘Urinetown’. COVID-19 ruined her chance to play Rosie in ‘Mamma Mia’ this year but she is hopeful it will get onto the stage one day! Performing with her daughters brings her such joy and she hopes you enjoy their performance of ‘You’ll Be in My Heart’ from ‘Tarzan’.
Dylan Hayley Rosenthal
BMMS Online 2.0 marks Dylan’s debut with Blue Mountains Musical Society. She is incredibly honoured to have some notable roles behind her, including Elphaba (‘Wicked’), Hodel (‘Fiddler on the Roof’), The Hunyak (‘Chicago’), Ursula (‘Sweet Charity’) as well as featured ensemble roles in ‘Les Miserables’, ‘The Phantom of the Opera’, ‘Catch Me If You Can’ and ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’. Dylan has had the immense privilege of training with some of Australia’s best, including Tim Smith (‘Legally Blonde’, ‘The Lion King’, ‘Mamma Mia’ and ‘Billy Elliot’). She looks forward to her continued growth and development, as well as many more performance opportunities this year – socially distanced, of course!
Melanie attended Newtown High School of the Performing Arts and rediscovered her love for performing in 2017 when she was cast as Belle in Richmond Players Inc’s ‘Beauty and the Beast’. She has since gone on to perform in Richmond Players Inc’s ‘The Wizard of Oz’ (Ensemble), Penrith Musical Comedy Company’s ‘Big: The Musical’ (Susan Lawrence), Blue Mountains Musical Society’s ‘The Wedding Singer’ (Featured Ensemble) and Blackout Theatre Company’s ‘The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee’ (Rona Lisa Peretti). Melanie will next perform in Packemin Productions’ ‘We Will Rock You’, opening February 2021 at Riverside Theatres.
Sam is delighted to have been given the opportunity to be a part of BMMS Online 2.0! She has been performing in the theatre for close to ten years; in that time playing some of her dream roles including Glinda in ‘Wicked’ and Grace Farrell in ‘Annie’. She has also played Delilah in ‘Whistle Down The Wind’, Glinda and ensemble in ‘The Wizard of Oz’, and featured in the ensembles of ‘Oliver!’, ‘Our Town’ and ‘Stories in the Dark’. Sam was also the choreographer in Broughton Anglican College’s productions of ‘Mary Poppins’ in 2017 and ‘Wicked’ in 2019.
Chemon has been a theatre practitioner in Sydney’s indie scene since rekindling her love of the creative and performing arts in 2019. After COVID-19 arrived in early 2020 postponing and straight up cancelling some exciting projects, Chemon was excited to audition for BMMS Online 2.0. She looks forward to sharing more exciting news as it comes when the industry gets up and running again next year.
Anya is a Year 7 student at Winmalee High School and loves performing at every opportunity! Anya has performed with BMMS in ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’ and ‘Gypsy’ and is super excited to be a part of the society once again. She has been a part of drama ensembles, vocal groups and dance troupes during school, busks on the street with her ukulele group and even started her own band this year where she sings and plays the keyboard. When she’s not jumping at an opportunity to get on stage, Anya can be found lost in a book or painting artworks!
Marlena is currently a musical theatre student at the VCA and is ecstatic to return to BMMS after two years. Marlena has performed in eight shows with the society being everything from a camel’s tail to a cat, a mermaid, or Little Sally in ‘Urinetown’. She also appeared as Jane in SYMT’s ‘Tarzan’ and while at high school played Audrey in ‘Little Shop of Horrors’ and Alice in ‘The Addams Family’. Last year, Marlena graduated from the Talent Development Project and performed her individual drama piece at the HSC ‘OnStage’ before heading into Melbourne lockdown for the past few months!
Madison is a 20 year old who has big dreams of one day becoming a Disney princess after witnessing the musical spectacular ‘Aladdin’ as a young girl. It was only fitting that she performed in the BMMS production of ‘The Little Mermaid’ in 2017 as a part of the ensemble. Since then Madison has been accepted into a Bachelor of Music majoring in Musical Theatre at the Australian Institute of Music, where she is currently completing her first year. BMMS Online 2.0 will be a long-awaited reunion for Madison with BMMS and she hopes you enjoy the show.
Dexter made his professional debut as a member of the Original Australian Cast of ‘Miss Saigon’; a role he would reprise in London’s Theatre Royal Drury Lane in the West End. He continues to perform across multiple genres as a singer, musician and recording artist, having played to audiences in theatres and concert halls throughout Europe, Asia, and the United States. In recent years he made his return to the theatre playing the iconic role of Jesus in ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’ with Willoughby Theatre Company – the only miracle being that he managed to not fall off the cross!
Mitchell has been involved with BMMS since 2010 and has worked on over 25 shows around Sydney. His shows onstage with BMMS include ‘The Wedding Singer’, ‘We Will Rock You’, ‘Urinetown’, ‘The Little Mermaid’, ‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat’, ‘West Side Story’, ‘Cats’, and ‘Oliver!’. Offstage he was the costume designer for ‘Gypsy’ and stage crew for ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’. With other companies his theatre highlights include Jack (‘Into The Woods’), the Nurse (‘Romeo and Juliet’), and Montparnasse/Others (‘Les Miserables’). Mitchell was also a producer of ‘Arcadia’ with UTS Backstage and Costume/Props Assistant/ASM for ‘Merrily We Roll Along’ with Little Triangle.
